Fredie Terral Seab, 95, of Luling, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. She took great pride in her age and active lifestyle. Not long after one birthday passed, she was looking forward to the next. While most people don’t want to see that number go up, she was proud to show what she could still do at an advanced age. Fredie’s life was one of love, generosity and dedication to her family and friends.
Fredie was born on June 2, 1930, in Jena, Louisiana to JB and Ethel Shaifer Terral. She is survived by her daughter Kay Seab Davey (Gerald), as well as her grandchildren Lauren Davey Rogers (Kade), Jeremy Davey, and Lindsey Davey (Carlos Goenaga) and six great grandchildren: Ashlyn, Marshall, Kadence, Preston, Andres, and Josephine. Fredie is preceded in death by husband of 48 years Murray K Seab and their daughter Sue Irene Seab. She is also preceded in death by her six brothers whom she stayed close to throughout her life.
For the past six years, Fredie resided at Summerhouse Ashton Manor in Luling, LA. During those years she made many friends and acquaintances. A special thanks to the staff at Summerhouse for making her last few years comforting and enjoyable.
Thank you to Hospice Specialists of Louisiana for their compassionate care, especially Alisha Coleman, Regina Oxford, and Melvin McGee for their extra attention to Fredie. She always looked forward to their visits.
Fredie touched the lives of many. She will be remembered as a teacher and administrator in the Natchez public schools. She was passionate about her career and took pride in her many accomplishments as an educator. In her late 80s she joined Facebook. Her favorite part about it was hearing from former students.
Fredie appreciated history and spent much of her free time doing genealogical research. Through her extensive research she was able to build a family tree that went back dozens of generations. She wrote a book detailing her family history and had it printed for all her relatives. Her collection of research is contained in ten large binders that will be donated to the Jena library. Her love of genealogy and history led Fredie to the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was passionate about the group’s work in historical preservation and education. She was a previous member of the William Dunbar Chapter (Natchez), Baton Rouge Chapter, and mostly recently a founding member of the German Coast Chapter (LA River Parishes).
Other than her passion for genealogy, Fredie loved to travel, shop for antiques, and sew. She left to her family treasured pieces that she collected along the way and beloved articles made by her own hand.
A service to honor Fredie’s life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 10:30 AM, burial will be at the Roxie Cemetery, Roxie, MS. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to German Coast DAR Chapter, P.O. Box 1062, Destrehan, LA 70047 in furtherance of their efforts to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
Fredie’s legacy lives on in her three cherished grandchildren. They were the light of her life and brought her much joy. Her example of love, grace, and determination leaves a lasting imprint on her family guiding us to live with strength, kindness, and purpose.
