She was born in Jackson, Mississippi to Carl Scott and Charleen (Pettus) Jennings.
Carleen spent her formative years in Shreveport and graduated from La. Tech in Ruston with degrees in history and library science. She was an accomplished guitarist and singer and was well-known as opening performer for big names in the late ’70s. Carleen made a career in food service management in Ruston, New Orleans, Savannah, and Gate City, Virginia, until she joined her brother in his business in Baton Rouge.
Carleen was preceded in death by her parents and by her half-brother, Lt. Col. Carl Scott Jennings (Jr.), USAF (Ret.).
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother and sister-in-law, C. Alan Jennings and Hartwell Harris, of Baton Rouge, and countless friends in all parts of the country.
Carleen will be laid to rest in Shreveport with her parents.
Plans for a gathering in Ruston in her memory are pending.
