

Glenice Charlene Scott, a native of Hamlin, TX and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the age of 77.Charlene was born September 8, 1937 to Barnie K. and Jessie Smith. She was an honor undergraduate of the University of Tennessee in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Charlene retired as a teacher from East Baton Rouge Parish Elementary School in 1997 and previously taught in Natrona Heights, PA. An active member of the University Baptist Church and its Reading Friend Program, Charlene was also a member of the Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society in Education; Women's Missionary Union Round Table; Campus Wives Club of LSU; the Monday Afternoon Book Club and the Thirty-Niners Book Club.Charlene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Max Scott; son Michael Scott; daughters Kim Drennan and Debbie Martin; grandchildren, Caitlin Drennan, Morgan Drennan, Avery Scott and Cooper Scott; and step great granddaughters Elaina Le and Elyssa Le.Charlene's passion was her husband and family, with special emphasis on her grandchildren, and supporting others and their needs. She was an avid traveler and her time in each of the 30 countries she visited was fully enjoyed. A loving, gracious, determined and vivacious Lady, Charlene will be missed by many and most of all by her family.Funeral Services will be at 10:00 the morning of Tuesday, March 17 at University Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors at the church prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.A private interment will take place at Roselawn cemetery.The family requests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to the Reading Friend Program of University Baptist Church at 5775 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70808
