Reverend Gregory Joseph Daigle was born on July 9, 1959, to Abel and Patricia Nancy Russo Daigle in Baton Rouge, LA. A longtime resident of East and West Baton Rouge Parishes, he passed away on June 8, 2025, at age 65. Fr. Greg attended St. George Elementary, Catholic High School, Loyola University, earned a degree in Music from LSU, and a Masters of Divinity from Notre Dame Seminary. He spent several years as a professional vocalist before entering the priesthood in 1993. He served as a priest in the Diocese of Baton Rouge for 32 years and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Along with his ministry, Fr. Greg was a prolific supporter of the arts, particularly with music and opera. He cherished his Annual Epiphany concert where he shared his talents in support of music education. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, telling stories and was always prepared to share a joke if the situation or homily called for it. With passion for cuisine, tennis, and the Carpenters, he was known to travel in pursuit of all, always ready to share the story over a meal or coffee upon his return. Fr. Greg was a beloved pastor and friend to many. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his brother, Michael Paul Daigle (Michelle); niece, Savannah Aiello (Sean); and nephew, Harrison Daigle (Samantha). He is preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Patricia Daigle; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Luce Daigle; and maternal grandparents, Joe and Mamie Russo.
A visitation for Fr. Greg will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine beginning at 8 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the music program at St. John School in Plaquemine or Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Institute.
