A retired Exxon Co. USA senior analyst with 32 years of service, he died peacefully from complications from lung cancer at 4:49 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Landmark of Baton Rouge while holding the hand of his wife of 60 plus years. He was 83, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home Chapel, 825 Government St., on Monday, June 1, from 3 p.m. until memorial services at 4 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 60 plus years, Marion W. Cotten; two daughters, Karen Maczewski and husband Robert, of New Orleans, and Wendy Schenck and husband Frank, of Biloxi, Miss.; three sons, Daniel G. Cotten and wife Mona, of Baton Rouge, Kendall G. Cotten and wife Christina, of Dallas, and Christopher G. Cotten and wife Jennifer, of Pearland, Texas; a brother, William R. Cotten and wife Connie, of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Olga Cotten; and a sister, Patsy Cotten Cranow. Memorial donations may be sent to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or to Catholic High School.
