A native of Commerce, Texas, he died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 83 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Memorial service at First Baptist Church, Commerce, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. Interment in Rosemound Cemetery, Commerce. Survived by his wife, Peggy Massey Standefer; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Donna Standefer and Christopher Standefer, all of Arlington, Texas, David Standefer, Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Mark and Judy Standefer, Arlington Heights, Ill.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Taylor Standefer. He was a member of Chapel on the Campus, lifetime member of the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers and American Chemical Society.
