

Herbert Douglas Russell, a native of Baton Rouge, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home at the age of 86. He served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Free Masons, American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was interested in genealogy, history including Cajun history, music, and an SPCA member. He loved his wife, family, friends, and animals. He is survived by his nephews, Johnnie Ned Henagan and wife, Ilsa, Jerry Ray Henagan and wife, Pauline, and Robert Hudson Jr and wife, Mel; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lillie Coulon Russell; parents, Edward Howard Russell Sr. and Alma Dupont Russell; siblings, Percy Brown, Ed, John, Morgan (Doc) Russell, Alma (Jan) Henagan, and Georgia Hudson; and nephews, Jimmie Henagan Sr. and wife, Shirley, and Billy Henagan; great nephew, Jimmie "BO" Henagan, Jr., and great great nephew, Brian Blake Brecheen.
