Howard A "Hoz" Kidder, Jr. passed away at his home, on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the age of 72. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. Howard was employed with Ethyl Corporation, Inc. until 1974, at which time he began his employment at Capital City Press until his death. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cathy Balden Kidder; three sons, Trent Kidder and wife Kandyce Kidder; Travis Kidder and Julie Jones and Taylor Kidder; three granddaughters, Ava Kidder, Hayden Kidder and Kylie Kidder; step granddaughters, Kalyssa Roberts and Juliana Roberts. Also survived by his brother Byron S. Kidder, Sr. and his wife Debi; and his sister Debbie Kidder Little; sister-in-law, Trudy Balden Demouy and husband Paul Henry Demouy; and a host of numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son Howard A. "Trey" Kidder, III; his mother and father, Howard A. Kidder, Sr. and Sindee Rose Bonocorso Kidder; father and mother-in-law James "Hank" Balden and Faye Thompson Balden and a brother-in-¬law, Ronald James Balden. He was an avid gardener, guitarist and he adored his Border Collie, Abby, who never left his side. He also loved repairing antiques in his workshop. His most important role was being present and a good husband to his wife, Cathy. He will be remembered for his kindness to his family and strangers and particularly the elderly he met along his path. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Monday, October 2, at 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
