Huey P. Long Kinchen, 84, a native of Bayou Paul, LA and a resident of Central, LA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, step-father, grandfather, and brother. Huey was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII at the bombardment of Iwo Jima and of Okinawa earning numerous medals and commendations. He was the Chief of the Central volunteer Fire Department serving two separate terms and for most of his life, Huey worked for TEXACO Oil and Gas Company. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Parish where he served on the Ushers Society for over 20 years. He was a Manresa retreatant for 35 years and was most recently the Grand Marshal of the 2011 Central Christmas Parade. Huey is survived by his wife of 15 years Mary Jane Kinchen; son Huey Kinchen, Jr.; step-children: Pat Alford, Mike and Mary Morain, Dennis and Nealy Morain, and Troy and Sue Morain; grandchildren: Kayla Kinchen and Kale Kinchen; 9 step-grandchildren and 9 great step-grandchildren; siblings: Wilma Vernice, Ora Smith, Pearl Wesley, Joseph Kinchen, Paul Kinchen, Lovey Savoy, Audrey Shumate, Austin Kinchen and Carol Kinchen. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Mamie Kinchen; his first wife Ethel Boudreaux Kinchen; and 7 siblings. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 5pm until 9pm and continuing on Friday, February 17, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 9:30am until Mass at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Kale Kinchen, Joey Bossom, Jesse Morain, John Morgan Morain, Kaleb Morain, John Moak and Shawn Chester.
