
Ila Bee Terry Rogers was born June 16, 1919, in Downsville. She resided in Ansley from 1925 to the end of the Korean War, then moved to theWest Bankof Jefferson Parish, where she resided until 1978. She spent the remainder of her life as a resident of Baton Rouge. She worked for the U.S. Post Office from 1945 to 1969. During the early years of World War II, she served in the WAAC, which became the WAC. She was a 50-year member of the William D. White Chapter 141 of the Order of Eastern Star in Gretna. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Connie Rogers; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Jennifer Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Curtis Rogers; parents, Thomas E. and Ella Davis Terry; brothers, Ernest A. Terry, Thomas Elmer Terry and his wife, Sarah; and sisters, Theresa Ella Tyler and her husband,Clyde, and Johnnie Lampkin and her husband, Sam. She was a tireless worker for the Lord, a Sunday school teacher, choir director and director of numerous pageants and dramas at St. James Methodist Church of Harvey. She attended Church of the Way Presbyterian of Baton Rouge, where she was an elder and choir member. She also sang in the Saints Alive Choir atBroadmoorUnitedMethodistChurch. Her early ambition was to go to seminary and become a Methodist minister alongside her best friend, the late Rev. Lea Joiner of Monroe. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Gerald Miletello and his loving and caring staff, the doctors and staff ofMaryBirdPerkinsCancerCenter, Hospice of Baton Rouge, especially Pauline, Vickey, Jennifer, Felicia and Michelle and volunteers Jill and Courtney. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, March 2, from 5 p.m. until religious service at 6 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ted Rowling and Dr. Stella Righteous.
