

"Iola was born September 26, 1922 in Plaquemine, LA and passed away November 21, 2016 at the age of 94. Iola was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She graduated from Baton Rouge Business College and was hired as a civilian secretary where she worked in the main hangar at Harding Field from 1942-1943. She is retired from Kalmbach - Burkett Feed and Seed Company with over 40 years of service. She is survived by her brother, Harvey "Puckum" Dupuy, Sr. of New Orleans, grandson Tristan Cole York and wife Becki, great granddaughter Lexann Marie York, daughter-in-law Jo Ann Cobb and husband Clint. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James O. "Sonny" York and son Gregory Ashford York, parents Sidney Joseph and Lucille Decareaux Dupuy, brothers Sidney Jr., Roland and Edwin Dupuy, sisters Elmire "Sis" Belcher and Inez D. Richard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6380 Hooper Road, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Father Frank Bass will officiate the Mass. Scripture readings will be read by Dee Dupuy and Tristan York. Interment will follow at Resthaven Garden of Memory. Pallbearers will be Tristan York, Ashton Belcher, Terry Dupuy, Kevin Dupuy and other nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church where Iola served faithfully in so many capacities over the years. Donations may also be made to Cardinal Hospice. The family would like to thank the Staff of Oakwood Village Assisted Living and her devoted sitters for their help and assistance. Iola wanted to thank Debbie Giglio and Jerrie Earthman for bringing their Dad (her brother) for visits over the years. These visits were very special to her.
