Ivan Jay Phillips, age 67, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Baton Rouge after a brief Illness. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Ivan lived a life full of passion, love for his family, and the game of football.
Ivan was a proud graduate of Holy Cross High School in New Orleans, class of 1975. He went on to become a celebrated member of the LSU Fighting Tigers Football Team from 1975 to 1979, where his athleticism and team spirit earned him admiration and respect. Ivan graduated from Louisiana State University in 1979, cementing his legacy as a devoted Tiger fan and lifelong supporter of LSU.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Chenevert Phillips; son, Benjamin Colin Phillips and wife Kristen, daughter-in-law Kristen Dixon Phillips, and two grandchildren, Jackson Ryan Phillips and Aubrey Shay Phillips. He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Christopher Phillips, and his parents, Annie Ancar Phillips and Leonard Jay Phillips.
Throughout his life, Ivan showed loyalty to his family, friends, and the LSU community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.
A celebration of Ivan’s life will be scheduled at a later time, where loved ones and friends will gather to honor his memory.
