
A resident of Baton Rougeand a former resident ofArlington, Va., died on Friday, March 2, 2007, at Our Lady of theLakeRegionalMedicalCenter. Dr. Robertson was born Dec. 2, 1924, inLogan, W.Va.He entered the U.S. Army following his graduation as valedictorian ofLoganHigh School, served for 3 years during World War II in the 104th Infantry Division and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medal. He attended The Citadel and theUniversityofMarylandand received a doctor of dental surgery degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. He was commissioned in the U.S. Public Health Service where he earned the rank of dental director and had a distinguished 31-year career, during which he received the Meritorious Service Medal. At his retirement, the Jack D. Robertson Dental Award was established which is given annually in his honor to recognize the achievement of dental officers in the U.S. Public Health Service. Dr. Robertson was a member of Psi Omega fraternity, Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society, the Gorgas Odontological Society, the American Dental Association, the American Public Health Association, the Association of Military Surgeons of the US, the Commissioned Officers Association of the USPHS, the Alumni Association of the University of Maryland Dental School and the Timberwolf Association. He was a Fellow of theAmericanCollegeof Dentists. He is survived by his sister, Mary S. Corn of Baton Rouge; his niece and nephew whom he adopted, Sandra C. Adams and her husband, Robert Paul Adams of Baton Rouge and David C. Corn and his wife, Edna B. Corn of Rocky Mount, N.C. He is also survived by four great-nephews/grandsons, Stephen B. Shallcross and his wife, Lauren, of Austin, Texas, David C. Corn Jr. and his wife, Jeni, of Raleigh, N.C., Robert Brian Adams and his wife, Jennifer, of Fairfield, Calif., and Bruce B. Corn of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Monday, March 5, from 2 p.m. until religious service at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Interment inWoodmereCemeteryinHuntington, W.Va.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association.
