The Lord called his faithful servant, James “Jimmy” Peter Romano, home on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at 9:50pm at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center in Florida. He was a Rabenhorst Life Insurance Co. staff manager and a musician. He was 70 and a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Niceville, FL.
Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. on January 7, 2022, in the south chapel from 10:00am-12:00pm followed by service at 12:00pm conducted by Father Jason Palermo. Burial following at Greenoaks Memorial Park at Lakeside Chapel, which is located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, La.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Brumfield Romano; a wonderful son, Jason Romano and his loving companion, Angela N. Taylor; two precious grandsons, Christian and Trent Romano; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sandra Romano Lindsey Perry and husband Mark; Maralena “Tootie” Romano Murphy and husband Johnny; numerous loving nieces and nephews. He had an additional eight sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law, Gretchen “Missi” Vaughn Romano Thibodeaux and husband Carl, Ann Brumfield Green, Sherrie Brumfield Adams, Gail Lynn Brumfield, Byron K. Brumfield and wife Pamela Sue, Karen Brumfield Gerald and husband Raymond, Faye Brumfield Thomas and husband Ben, Stacy Brumfield Jenkins and husband Mark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sr. and Daisy Romano; brother, Roy “Buddy” Romano Jr. and brother-in-law, Thomas “T.O.” Lindsey Sr.; paternal grandparents, Antonio and Carmella Romano; maternal grandparents, Peter and Lena Palermo; four uncles, Peter and Buster Palermo and Joe and Tony Romano; five aunts, Rose R. Jerome, Nellie R. Saia, Jennie R. Maggio, Josie R. Levatino, Angie R. D’Agostino; father-in-law and mother-in-law; Elgin and Mary S. Brumfield.
Jimmy was so full of life and enjoyed sharing it with everyone. He was also called “Rockin Jim” by his family and close friends. He loved vacationing with his family in Pensacola every year, RV trips, LSU tailgating, boating, fishing, football, and just sitting on the balcony taking in the beautiful view over the bay. The Romano family thanks everyone for their support, and prayers especially all of his musician friends who shared his love for music. Thanks for the loving care of all the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Oncology and Infusion Center in Baton Rouge. Our heartfelt thanks goes to Dr. Yunhui Henry Hsiang and all of the infusion nurses at Emerald Coast Cancer Center in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
