

Jeanne "Maeme" Clair Horsfall Browning, age 79, a resident of Zachary, Louisiana, passed away on January 5, 2026. She was born on July 22, 1946, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Jeanne devoted her life to faith, service, and family. She served as a hospital chaplain and was deeply committed to ministry and community outreach. Her service included Clinical Pastoral Education, Kairos Prison Ministry, Activities Director at St. James Place Retirement Community, and leadership as a board member for the Louisiana United Methodist Children’s Home. She was also honored as the American Business Women’s Association Cypress Chapter Woman of the Year. Above all her accomplishments, Jeanne considered her greatest and most important role to be that of a mother. She had a zest for life and found joy in sewing, traveling, and reading. Jeanne was known for her warm hospitality and loved nothing more than bringing people together by throwing a great party. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cissy Browning; her parents, Ernest and Eugenia Horsfall; and her in-laws, Ardella and Phil Browning. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Willmott Browning Sr.; her children, Angelique Browning, Beth Ferguson and husband Steve, and Steven Browning Jr. and wife S’lena; her grandchildren, John Browning, Courtney Ferguson and Zach, Steven Ferguson Jr. and wife Sarah, and Danielle Ferguson and Daniel; her great-grandchildren, Avery Sholty, Rylee Sholty, Elias Sholty, and Daisy Guernsey; and her siblings, Vickie Waggenspack and husband Terry, Libby Halphen and husband George, and Buzz Horsfall and wife Kathy. Visitation will be held on January 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory East, 11000 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will take place at Greenoaks Memorial Park at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers honored to serve are Steven Browning Jr., John Browning, Kevin Cobb, Edward Horsfall, Andy Waggenspack, and Steve Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Horsfall, Perry Wasson, and George Horsfall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeanne’s memory to the Louisiana United Methodist Children’s Home.
