Jeannie Burns Martinez

Jeannie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker, native of Belle Alliance and resident of Baker. She died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at her home. Jeannie was 83. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, June 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church on Friday, June 10, from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Frank Bass. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by three daughters, Jeannie Tyson and husband Wayne, Kathy Schittone and husband Michael Jr., and Jill Cifero and husband Mark Sr.; a son, Kraig P. Martinez and wife Linda; sisters, Lois Sharkey, Marie Simoneaux and Sidonia Burns; brothers, Raymond Burns and Paul "White" Burns Sr.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband, Adam N. Martinez Jr.; parents, Shelby J. Burns Sr. and Zelolid Talbot Burns; son, Randy B. Martinez; and siblings, Roy Burns, Robert Burns, Patrick Burns Sr., Shelby Burns Jr., Wilbert Burns and Anna Mae Landry. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kraig Paul Martinez, Jerry Robinson, Jeffrey Robinson, Michael Schittone III, Shelby Martinez and Mark Cifreo. Honorary pallbearers are Scotty Henderson, Joshua Vaughn and Aubrey Lynn Wiggins Jr. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Greater Baton Rouge.
