Jimmie Cordell Upton went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2016. He passed away at Our Lady of The Lake Hospital surrounded by loved ones and dedicated caregivers following a lengthy illness. Jim was born in Ranger, Texas and has been a resident of Baton Rouge since 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents; Allen Cordell and Eloise Morton Upton of Victoria, Texas; his grandparents, James Allen and Loretta Tucker Upton of Victoria, Texas and Gorman and Gladys Bowles Morton of Ranger, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; son Brent and wife Mary; four grandchildren; Grant (16), Ansley (12), Mary Claire (10), and James Wilson (8). He is also survived by his sister Gormeen Upton Kamin and her husband Maurice "Buddy" Kamin of Victoria, Texas, as well as three nephews, Bentley, Clayton and Preston Kamin and their wives and children. Private graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Friday at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Alzheimer's Services of Capital Area, 3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
