I was a trumpet student of Mr. Whitten in the mid 1970's.  Mr. Whitten brought a joy to life that I experienced through his trumpet lessons to me that inspired me and challenged me.  I considered Mr. Whitten a mentor to model myself after and the lessons he taught me.  He introduced me to the piccolo trumpet as I did not know of the existence of such a thing.  I grieve at your loss and for your family for you set the standard on how to get the most out of life. I will continue to cherish the memory of a great man and trumpet teacher.  Heartfelt condolences to the Whitten family.
