

A lifetime resident of Baton Rouge, John D. Aymond Jr. died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 88. Mr. Aymond attended Baton Rouge High School, from which he graduated in 1937, and attended LSU, graduating in 1941 with a degree in business administration. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. After the war he went into real estate and retired in 1974. He then went into the investment business. Mr. Aymond served on the vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church as chairman of the finance committee. Visitation at St. James Episcopal Church on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, the former Anne Baynard; daughter, Judith Grand and husband David, of Lafayette; son, Jay Aymond, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Aymie Knox Warner and husband John, of Fairhope, Ala., Jan Knox Elmore and husband Jeff, of Lafayette, Trey Knox, of Birmingham, Ala., and Mark Aymond and John Aymond, both of Baton Rouge; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Erie Fife, of Natchitoches, and Irene Haydel, of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his parents, J.D. Sr. and Electra Hanna Aymond; sister, Verna Jo Stecklein; daughter-in-law, Colleen Sullivan Aymond; and son-in-law, H. Nelson Knox Jr. All who knew J.D. will remember him as a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
