
Alan Collier, 27, died unexpectedly in his sleep Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009. Alan was born and raised in Baton Rouge. He attended University Laboratory School and was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University. He was also a member of St. James Episcopal Church. He is survived by his parents, John Alan Jr. and Anne; sister, Ann Collier Ellement, brother-in-law Matthew K. Ellement, of Sanford, N.C.; grandparents, William Frank Jr. and Martha Stafford Daniel, of Alexandria, and John Alan Collier Sr., Baton Rouge; aunts, Tommy Collier Simmons and husband David, Baton Rouge, Elizabeth Daniel Callais and husband Gene, Lafayette, Martha Daniel Vogel and husband Phil, Spring, Texas, and uncle, William Frank Daniel III, Baton Rouge. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his grandmother, Ann Moseley Collier, who was of Baton Rouge, and aunt, Margaret Ezell Daniel, of Lafayette. Alan loved sports and was an exceptional tennis player. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the junior tennis program at the Paula G. Manship YMCA in Alan's name.
