
John practiced the law privately and pro bono for 35 years in Baton Rouge. He graduated from Northwestern State University in 1969 and LSU Law School in 1976. He served in the Air Force between college and law school, where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He loved people, animals, his Harley-Davidson, golf, cooking and gardening. He passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at his home, in his favorite recliner, with Alice, his wife of 40 years, by his side, and his beloved cats lying and purring by his feet. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Chris and Jonathan Comish; a sister, Elizabeth "Bitsy" Pearce; two brothers, Edwin and Charles Ray Comish; and three granddaughters, Avery, Auldyn and Adair Comish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Edwin and Emma Edeline White Comish. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel Thursday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. until service at 11:30 a.m. John's family wants to thank the staff at Tulane University for the care and assistance that allowed John and his family to enjoy seven more full and loving years together. Those who knew John will remember that he always lived life to the fullest, enjoyed being surrounded by good company and that he had a sharp yet warm-hearted wit. He will be missed by his wife, his family, his friends, as well as his two dogs and three cats.
