John M. Haydel, Jr.

"A native of New Orleans, long-time resident of Baton Rouge, and more recently Sunshine, John M. Haydel, Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the age of 77.  John was a 1959 graduate of Istrouma High School where he played football and he later attended LSU.  He had many hobbies including golf, playing cards with long-time friends, and was an exceptional gourmet cook.  He enjoyed entertaining family and friends and dining out. His personality was enormous with his marvelous sense of humor.  He is greatly loved and will be dearly missed. John is survived by his wife Blanche Jeffries Haydel of Sunshine, LA; children, Kim Haydel Ferrell  and husband Tony, Brent Haydel  and wife Ramona, Kelly Haydel Carter and husband John; step children, Jeffries Morgan, Amanda Morgan Netterville and husband Brad; grandchildren, Ashley Werner and husband Joey, Danielle Currier and husband Chris, Chance Haydel, Lauren Carter, Morgan Netterville, and Caroline Netterville; great-grandchildren,  Jacob Werner, Jared Werner, Jaxon Werner, Alexa Werner, and Lex Currier; sister, Val Sarris; numerous nieces and nephews; and his most beloved dogs Arabella and Spencer. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Murphy Haydel, Sr. and Velma Louise Menendez Haydel. A celebration of life will be held privately on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society www.lls.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.lls.org">www.lls.org.
