John "Johnny" Matthew Martone

John Matthew Martone passed away in his sleep at his home on Thursday, August 9, 2021, at the age of 71. He was born on May 26, 1950 in Binghamton, NY. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, having attended Sacred Heart of Jesus elementary school and was a 1968 graduate of Catholic High School.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lauren Dupuy Martone; sons, Jeremy (Michelle) Martone; Matthew David Martone; grandchildren, Justin and Miranda Martone. Additionally he is survived by his siblings; Frank (Carol), Danny (Butchie), Richard ‘Dickie’ (Linda Kay), Mike (Loretta), Linda Wiedeman and twin brother Jimmy. He was preceded in death by his parents: Patrick D. Martone Sr. and Mary Lillian Hegwood Martone, and brother Patrick D. “Butch” Martone Jr. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Chris McCanless and his staff for their care over the last two and a half years. Many thanks also to Johnny’s fishing, hunting and golfing buddies who have been a continual source of comfort. Thanks also to all of Lauren’s friends who have been her strength during Johnny’s illness. Memorial donations can be made in Johnny’s name to a charity of your choice. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 16th from 5pm to 7pm, with a memorial service at 7 pm at Rabenhorst East on Florida Street, conducted by Deacon Ronnie Hebert of St. Alphonsus. Rabenhorst requires that anyone attending the visitation or service to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. In addition the family requests that relatives or friends that are unvaccinated to please remain at home out of respect for others.
