John Burgin Tessier

"John Burgin Tessier, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the age of 91. He was a graduate of Catholic High School who went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He later graduated from SLII/SLU in Lafayette with an Agricultural Engineering degree. He retired in 1997 from the Energy division of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. He enjoyed conversation, good food, cooking, fishing, gardening, and walking. He is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Rose B Tessier; his son John R (Melati) Tessier; his two daughters Jeanine (Sam) Wheeler, and Monique (David) Cabrera; his five grandchildren - Brennan and Lauren Cabrera, Sean Tessier, and Christopher and Chase Wheeler; two brothers, Jeff and Pat Tessier; and his sister Ella V. Wakeley. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles and Melva Tessier; and brothers Charles Tessier Jr., Thomas Tessier, James "Jack" Tessier, and Steve Tessier. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 14 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, at 11:00am until the funeral service begins at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks that you make donations to The Salvation Army.
