It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John E. Tullier, 50 years of age. While surrounded by loved ones during his final moments, John passed away on October 31, 2024. His departures leaves a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him.
John was born on December 26, 1973 to John and Shirley Tullier in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. John was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Tullier. He is survived by his father, John Tullier, his sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Steve Dobbins, his two nephews, Chance and Caleb Dobbins, and his niece, Constance Tullier.
Cherished by family, friends and colleagues, John was known for his kind and humorous personality. John took great pride in his work, friendships and demonstrated an overall zeal for life. John was happiest when making others laugh and providing a safe space for his loved ones to confide in. We can all learn from the way John prioritized quality time and cherished the little everyday moments that we all take for granted so easily.
Graphically talented, John was good at translating his humor into spur of the moment cartoons, and with his mechanical aptitude and imagination was able to bring things like a haunted house to life. His love of animals brought him to the Baton Rouge Zoo where he became an elephant handler and hoof stock keeper. After he left the zoo he put his natural skills to use in leading teams at Lowes and Pet Smart. John found great success in his final career where he specialized in surveying and field operations. He mentored a number of young land surveyors at two companies. All of the lives that he touched consider him their friend, brother, or confidant.
A private celebration of life will be held by family, friends and colleagues at a later date, under the direction of his niece, Constance Tullier. Please post any videos or photo memories that you cherish of John. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to your local animal shelter on John’s behalf, a cause John felt strongly about.
One animal shelter John had a special connection with was Cara’s House:
