
Josephine Wilson Glynn Cooper died at her home in Baton Rouge on February 19, 2013. She was 98 years old. Josephine was born on Kelson Plantation in Arbroth, LA on May 29, 1914. The sixth of seven children, she was born with a servant's heart and a generous spirit. Her life was a testament to the faithfulness of God through Jesus Christ her Lord, and manifested the love with which He has first loved us all. We rejoice that she lives on in true joy. She was the last surviving grandchild of Major Martin Glynn who immigrated from Ireland in 1854. She was preceded in death by her husband, Revel Dean Cooper, Sr.; her parents, Alphonse Jerome and Mary Leah Young Glynn; her siblings: Alphonse "Doc" Glynn; Mary Leah Glynn; Annie Glynn Hebert; Mary Jane Glynn Douglass; Virginia Lilley Glynn Young; Lydia Glynn Phares and a step-son Billy Dean Cooper. She is survived by her children: Revel Dean Cooper, Jr. and wife Jane; Leah Moore and husband Larry; and Gerry Arnold and husband Robert; Arthur Ralph Cooper and wife Melissa; and by beloved step-children: Bob Cooper and wife Martha and Lil Emerson and husband John. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Virginia Smith and husband Philip, John Walker Kelly and wife Sam, Mary Leah Coco and husband Jeremy, Mary Katherine Moore, Glynn Cooper and Grant Cooper. She is also survived by four step grandchildren: Lisa Colvin and husband Lane, Vicky Weatherly and husband Jeff, Jason Cooper and wife Julia, and Lesli Nodurft and husband Ryan, three great grandchildren, her God-child JoAnne Busse and numerous nieces and nephews. The family gratefully acknowledges the faithful years of service of Linda Scott and Sherri Bueche, and thanks Hazel Johnson and Ann Manthe for their help as well. We also thank St. Joseph Hospice and all the wonderful staff who so kindly supported Miss Jo and the family. The family appreciated the love and prayers of the pastors, staff and members of First Presbyterian Church, and the blessing of the faithful intercession by everyone at The Chapel on the Campus. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 833 Government Street, on Wednesday, February 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, there will be a 9:00 a.m. graveside service and interment at the Young Family Cemetery in Zachary, LA, followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service in The Dunham Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, with fellowship in the reception room following the memorial service.
