

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the death of Josephine L. Harris on Wednesday evening, April 6, 2016. At the age of 90 and a native of Baton Rouge, she leaves behind her only son John L. Harris, daughter-in-law Sandra L. Harris, and granddaughters Leslie, Ashley, and Amanda, as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Sandra and John have been the caretakers of Josephine for the past 3 years in her home in Baton Rouge. Josephine also leaves behind her sisters: Alice Cusimano, Rosa Mills, Camille G. Manzella; her brother Basil Grasso; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Joe and Mary Grasso, her husband Warren M. Harris, sisters: Annie Grasso, Mary Savoie, Tina Grasso, and Myrtle G. Porter; and her brother Phillip Grasso. She was loved by her family and was considered a mother by many family members. She enjoyed gambling and was generous to her family even when casino luck did not come her way. Her love and devotion to her family was evident in her daily life and she was a member of St. George Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5pm until 9pm, and will resume at the funeral home on Saturday at 10am and will continue until religious service in the chapel at 2pm. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard.
