Joy Wallace Smith

"Joy Wallace Smith, 62, of Zachary passed away on October 20th after a courageous fight against cancer.  She went peacefully at her home, surrounded by friends and family.  Visitation Thursday, October 26, 2017 will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East 11000 Florida Blvd. from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Funeral service will be held at Rabenhorst East Chapel on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 9:00 am.  Pastor Joey Beeson of Florida Blvd. Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.  Joy was born in Baton Rouge, May of 1955. She attended Silliman High School and graduated in 1972.  Her family was her life's work.  She enjoyed sharing her mastery in the kitchen and loved playing dominos with the ladies.  In years past, she loved the babies that she cared for.  Joy is preceded in death by her Father, Marion Lee Wallace and Brother, James Lee Wallace.  Joy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Timothy Owen Smith, children Tara Stephen, Jeremy Christie, Timothy Chrissy and Jacob Shelly, seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, her mother Martha Shaffer and brothers Jeff and Joel.  The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all those that cared for her so lovingly.  She literally brought "Joy" to every soul she ever met.  She was truly an angel in waiting.
