Joyce Bissell Meyer

On October 20, 2021, with her family at her side, Joyce "Mama Joyce" Meyer, age 90, passed into eternal life with Jesus. Joyce was born in Charlotte, NC on November 11, 1930. After marrying John Bennard Meyer Jr., she spent 63 years as a native of Baton Rouge, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Ben Meyer, her mother Imogene Morrell, a daughter, Jeanne Meyer Carter, and a son, John Bennard Meyer III. She is survived by a son, Tommy (Betty) Meyer, a daughter, Mary Margaret "Market" (John) Hathway, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her legendary cooking, she will be remembered as a second mother to many. Services will be held on Saturday, October 23 at St. Thomas More Church in Baton Rouge. Visitation is at 11:00 a.m. The funeral is at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 127, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
