Joyce Raye Wilkinson Bacon

Joyce Raye Wilkinson Bacon, resident of Amite County, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Wilkinson County Senior Care in Centreville, Mississippi. Mrs. Joyce was born October 4, 1938, in Baton Rouge, La. the daughter of the late Willie Ray and Gladys Mae Drummond Wilkinson. She is also preceded in death by her husband Bernal Peter Bacon, one grandson Brad Bacon, and son-in-law Bubby Deville. Joyce was an accountant for over 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections, and a member of Enterprise Baptist Church in Amite County, MS. She was a wonderful loving mother and had a spirit about her for the love of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as her church family at Enterprise Baptist Church. She was a genealogist when it came to Amite County, MS. She had a passion for the history of this area of the state of Mississippi which included her home that she was immensely proud of. She is survived by son Darrell Bacon and wife Patty, daughter Debbie Staples and husband Doug, son Bruce Bacon and wife Mary, son Mike Hudson, daughter Robin Deville, son Mark Hudson and wife Angie, 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and lots and lots of friends. Special thanks to the staff at Wilkinson County Senior Care. It is with gratitude and appreciation that we thank them for the care of our mother. Visitation is Wednesday December 29, 2021, at Enterprise Baptist Church from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Also, visitation Thursday December 30, at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, La., from 11:00 am until funeral services at 2:00 pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Shan Van Norman. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
