Kathleen Blanche Randel Carroll, 84, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly reward on October 25, 2023. She was born on March 10, 1939 in Eunice Louisiana. Kathleen grew up in Eunice, Louisiana. She graduated Valedictorian from Eunice High School where her father was principal. She received a B.A. degree in education from Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana. Later in life she received a M.E. degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduating from Louisiana College and moving to Baton Rouge to teach she met James (Jim) Carroll at First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. This past June James and Kathleen celebrated 62 years of marriage. Kathleen found joy and purpose in her hobbies serving alongside her husband Jim through Christian organizations such as Campers on Mission, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and First Baptist Church. With God as her guiding source, Kathleen was the model of a Proverbs 31 woman. She had clarity on the decisions she made, how she lived her life and the words she spoke. She carefully cultivated a Godly life on the eternal truth of God. She had a compassionate nature and willingness to lend a helping hand to bring comfort and relief to those in need. One of those examples was by crocheting plastic bags into mats for the homeless. Proverbs 31:20, ‘She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.’
We extend our sincere appreciation to Hospice of Baton Rouge and Sally for the wonderful care given to Kathleen over this last week. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll; parents, Charles and Hazel (McManus) Randel; sister, Betty R. Walker and Howard. She is survived by her son, Dr. Scott C. Carroll (Kim); daughter, Kathy C. Simon (James); and grandchildren, Zoey Carroll, Kristina Saavedra (Gabriel), and Kathryn Simon.
Services for Kathleen will be Friday, November 3rd. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church Baton Rouge at 529 Convention Street beginning at 10am with service to follow at noon. Burial will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park following service.
