Kenyatta was a graduate of Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University. Being very interested in furthering her education, Kenyatta earned a Master of Business Administration from Dallas Baptist Institute and was only a mere 9 hours away from earning her doctorate degree from Valdosta State. Kenyatta started her career as an Enterprise Risk Services Consultant at Deloitte and Touche. She spent the rest of early professional career working in various top managerial positions at KPMG, the Georgia Department of Revenue, Radio Shack, Blockbuster/Viacom, Jefferson Wells, and as a Senior Vice President at Citigroup. After a stellar career in the private sector, Kenyatta transitioned into the educational sector serving as the Director for Information Technology Audit and as the Executive Director for Enterprise Risk Management on the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Her final positions saw her at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia serving as the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success, and while in that role, Kenyatta was tapped to serve as the interim Chief Information Officer at the university.
Kenyatta was a born-again believer who believed in God’s grace. She was an active member of Grace City Church in Leesburg, GA led by Josh and Brynn Copron where she served as a greeter. Kenyatta often shared her beliefs with others to help them understand the blessings of the Lord. She was also actively involved in The Links, the Boys and Girls Club of America and a proud member of the Kappa Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Kenyatta’s friends and family would tell you that she was lovable, inspirational, a fashionista, and had a deep affinity for helping others. She was sharp minded, and her colleagues would often call her a walking policy manual! Others would say that she was also one of the most stylish people you’d ever meet. She always looked as though she was getting ready to attend New York Fashion Week as a runway model.
She enjoyed all that life had to offer and was always ready to travel the world. Her love for the finer things always resulted in a flight to some grand destination or a quick road trip to one of her many favorite locations. In fact, her last days were spent with her mom on her annual Christmas shopping spree in New York city. Whether it was bringing in the Mardi Gras season and performing community service in the Algiers community with her “Friends Who Travel with A Purpose” group, serving the youth in the south Fulton-Atlanta area with the “Breakfast with Benefits” club, or driving around in her Jeep with other members of her Jeep group. Kenyatta was always on the move! She was extraordinary in so many ways and everything any parent, brother, niece, cousin, Godchild and friend could ever wish for.
Kenyatta was style combined with strength, beauty combined with brains, and determination combined with dedication. She had a passion for the fonder things in life and was always the person bringing life to any party she attended. She was truly a gift to all, and any chance she got, she wanted to share whatever she had with all of those that she knew and loved. Kenyatta had everything it took and still managed to be her own kind of woman. She truly had it all!
