

On Monday, March 7, 2016 Kevin Paul "Zippy" Torres perished from this earth. He was born on June 6, 1949, in Donaldsonville, LA to Joseph F. . "Nick" and Rita Dorothy "Dot" Torres. Kevin was a graduate of East Jefferson High School in 1967. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War with tours in Utapao, Thailand; Osaka, Japan and Minot, North Dakota. After serving his country, Kevin attended Louisiana State University New Orleans and was a member of the first graduating class of the University of New Orleans. He attended and graduated from Louisiana State University Law School, during which time he married his wife, Donna Marie Kruger, in 1976. Kevin completed his formal education with a Master of Public Administration from Louisiana State University. Kevin had an illustrious career with the State of Louisiana serving with the Attorney General's Office, in the Division of Administration as the General Counsel, and ending his career as General Counsel for the Louisiana State Employees Retirement System (LASERS). He had recently stated the he had "the best two jobs in all of state government." In his life he was most proud of 1) his wife, Donna; 2) his son, Eric; and 3) his law degree from LSU. He is Survived by his wife, Donna Kruger Torres, and son, Eric Damien Torres; sisters Darlene T. Scioneax (Gil) and Jamie T. Hadley (Mel); brothers Joseph F. "Butch" Torres, Jr. (Bonnie) and Ricky G. Torres (Cathy); and numerous nieces, and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be held at Rabenhorst, 825 Government Street on Friday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Private visitation for family from 8:30 to 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to the LSU General Scholarship Fund or LSU Law School General Scholarship Fund, Attn: Scholarship Unit, 1146 Pleasant Hall, Baton Rouge, LA 70803.
