
A devoted wife and a native and resident of Baton Rouge, she was born Feb. 25, 1954, and died Monday, June 23, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Michael Brian Plaisance; stepdaughter, Aimee Plaisance and her son, Jason "Jake" Evans; two sisters, Bryan and her husband, Raymond "Skipper" Post, and Suzanne Simmons Homan, of Tampa, Fla.; brother, William "Bill" Simmons, of Lafayette; mother-in-law, Yvonne K. Plaisance; and brothers-in-law, David B., Randy T., Don M. and his wife, Dawn, and Stephen P. Plaisance. She also enjoyed the love and support of numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, William McHugh Simmons and Phoebe Bryan Simmons; and father-in-law, Larry J. Plaisance. Visiting at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, on Thursday, June 26, from 9 a.m. until Mass at 10 a.m., which will be celebrated by the Rev. Mike Schatzle and assisted by Deacon Peter Walsh. Burial in the Shaw McHugh Cemetery in Zachary. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., is in charge of arrangements. Laurie was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 127, Baton Rouge, LA 70821, will be greatly appreciated. Her family would like to add a very special note of appreciation to all of her doctors, the fifth floor oncology staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and the staff and Eucharistic ministers of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
