Lawrence Boyd "Larry" McAlpine, Sr.

"Lawrence Boyd "Larry" McAlpine, Sr. passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at the age of 74. A native of Toledo, Ohio, he grew up in New Orleans and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Larry was a Viet Nam veteran attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant serving with the 9th Infantry Division USA. He was a graduate of Tulane University and Jesuit High School of New Orleans. He retired from the State of Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions. He is survived by sons; Lawrence Boyd McAlpine, Jr. and Jeffery Michael McAlpine, a daughter; Elizabeth McAlpine Geary and husband Joseph, a brother; Michael McAlpine and a sister; Mary Lee Orr, grandchildren Lawson Matthew McAlpine, John Lawrence Geary, Samuel Joseph Geary and Luke Michael McAlpine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Commeau McAlpine and Julia Leever McAlpine. Visitation will be Friday, November 17, 2017 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., beginning at 9:00 am with service at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana at 12:30 pm. Larry was a loving father and grandfather whose children and grandchildren were his greatest joy in life. Larry donated to Veteran's organizations all his life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to veteran's organization, Team Rubicon at their website.
