Leo Hedrick Plaisance was born May 9, 1923, in Convent, Louisiana to Prosper and Esther Lambert Plaisance. Prior to the flood of 2016, he and his family resided in the same house in Baton Rouge for fifty-two years. He passed away on December 7, 2020, at the age of 97, at his home in Destin, Florida, where he relocated to in 2017, despite his aversion to the beach and short pants. He retired from BASF Geismar after several decades of service but he never stopped working; his wife, Esther Kirsch Plaisance, made sure of that up until the time of her death on May 9, 2014, their 70th wedding anniversary. He had a second career at JCPenney that spanned well over a decade, as well as jobs at St. Louis King of France School, and Plant World. Although his formal education concluded when he graduated high school, there was never a book he did not want to read or a crossword puzzle that he could not complete. He is survived by his son Glenn Andrew Plaisance (Deborah) of Destin, Florida; granddaughters Julie Adele Plaisance of Dublin, California and Karen Alise Rayborn (Russell) of Baton Rouge; great-grandchildren Wyatt Augustus Rayborn, Truett Andrew Rayborn and Evangeline Lee Rayborn; former daughter-in-law Reba Aymond Plaisance; sister-in-law Jacqueline Plaisance Cappe’ and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Eunice Laurent (John); brothers Clifford (Jacqueline), Larry (Yvonne) and Nolan (Gladys Faye) Plaisance. A graveside service for immediate family and friends will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 11 AM.
