Leonard "Lenny" LaPlace, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the age of 55. Lenny was a real estate developer, a board member of the Apartment Association of Baton Rouge, and a longtime member of the Baton Rouge Board of Realtors. He was a volunteer football coach at St. Aloysius Catholic School, but his true passion in life was his family. Lenny was a loving fiancé, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother who will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to meet him. Lenny is survived by his fiancé, Jody Moffett; sons, Alex LaPlace, and Anthony Sears; special step-children, Eric Patton and Allison Mumphrey; nieces and nephews, Austen LaPlace, Shelby LaPlace, Lucien LaPlace, Benjamin LaPlace, Lillian LaPlace, and his "baby girl" Annie Jenkins and husband Scott; grandson, Gage Mendow; sisters, Lea Margaret LaPlace, Leanne LaPlace Evans and husband Theo; brothers, Andre' LaPlace, and Michael LaPlace; and special step-mother, Bettye Duke LaPlace. He is preceded in death by his father, Adolph "Ad" LaPlace; mother, Mary Canning; and grandmother and step-grandfather, Margaret and Thomas Turner. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memoral Park. Pallbearers will be John Lambremont, C.B. Annis, Dale Barringer, Darrell Porter, Lance LaPlace, and Buck Jackson. Honorary pallbearer is Donald Key.
