Lila Tate Garrison, age 88, departed this earthly life and entered her heavenly home with Jesus from whom she gained her strength on June 21, 2013. Lila was a native of Baton Rouge and resided in Denham Springs with previous residences in Gulfport, Hammond, Plaquemine, Port Allen, Port Arthur, and Good Hope. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Earl W. Garrison, her daughter Jeanell of Baton Rouge, granddaughter Jennifer and husband Sean D. Ricard, two great-granddaughters, Bayleigh and Reagan Ricard, of Denham Springs and dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends Lila was preceded in death by her son, Earl Wayne Garrison, Jr., her father Charles J. Tate, her mother Freddie and stepfather, Eugene J. O'Regan, sisters Jeanette Dunn and Lois Vicknair. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and the Baton Rouge Business College. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked numerous places as a secretary. She worked within the Forestry Department, Dr. Joe McCurdy's Medical Office, the Radiology Department at BRGH, the Department of Welfare and finally retired from work outside the home while in her position as the first Administrative Secretary at EKLMC. She was a charter member of CrossPoint Baptist Church where her favorite service was working with her friend Liz Dickson with the bed babies and in more recent years she and Liz prepared the baby beds and then participated in the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She relished her participation in the monthly Band of Sisters luncheon meetings Visitation will take place at 12:00 PM until the 2:00 PM memorial/celebration service which will be conducted by Pastors Nick Taylor and Kevin Whitfield on Monday June 24, 2013, in the chapel at Rabenhorst East, 11000 Florida Blvd. Internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Rene Vicknair, Marty Vicknair, Craig Cordes, Brett Cordes, John Kurilko, Dale Thurston, Sean Ricard and Thad Glankler. Honorary pallbears are Jeff Campbell and Carl Middleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Building or Mission Fund of CrossPoint Baptist Church, the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, Hospice of Greater Baton Rouge, or your favorite charity. The family wishes to take this opportunity to thank all members of the Hospice of Greater Baton Rouge Care Team at the Butterfly Wing; the ER, Cardiology Unit, CICU, and Neurology Unit at Our Lady of the Lake; Ascension Home Health and Harvest Manor Nursing Home who have been involved in her care and treatment in one way or another since February. All treated her with the utmost loving care and respect as they provided their professional services for her.
