A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the age of 79. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. He was a graduate of Crowley High School and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He retired in 1992 from John E. Chance & Associates in Lafayette with 30 years of service and again in 2010 from Avis in Baton Rouge with 16 years of service. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. on Tuesday from 9 AM until the service at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Violet Forbes Stelly; one daughter, Dana Stelly Freyman and husband, Dr.Ilya; one son, Eric Stelly; three grandsons, Joshua, Jacob, and Brian Freyman; two sisters-in-law, Billie Porter Stelly, and Ann Melancon and husband, Ted; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha Broussard Stelly; three brothers, Joe, Dan, and Robert Stelly; and one sister, Ruby Hicks.
