He maketh me lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters, He restoreth my soul.” Psalms 23 On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at approximately 6:45 pm, Luke Dolford Dummons, II, concluded his 78-year journey on this earth, in Baton Rouge, LA. Luke Dolford Dummons, II, was born on Thursday, November 15, 1945, in New Orleans, LA, to Celane McKneely Dummons and Pastor Luke Dolford Dummons, Sr. At the age of eight, his father led Luke in baptism after he accepted Christ at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. He attended elementary school at Greenville Elementary and graduated from Capitol High School of Baton Rouge, LA, class of 1963. He later went to Southern University A & M College. Luke spent many years serving our community as a postal worker with the United States Postal Service, finally retiring at the age of 67. He loved cooking and baking. His favorite pastime was watching football and supporting his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers. He entered into his first marriage in 1966, to Patricia Ann Thomas. To this union, two sons and one daughter were born. In 1992, Luke married Gwendolyn Bazile. To this union, was born one son. Luke leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Bazile; sister, Mary Lee Robvais (Alfred); sons, Karl Dummons (Laurie), Kendrick Dummons (D’Angela), and Kolby D’Shanski Dummons; daughter, Kimberly Dummons (Keenan); grandchildren, Lindsay McKinney, Kolyn Dummons, Keyonna Patin, and Karly Dummons; and a host of loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Celane McKneely Dummons and Luke Dolford Dummons, Sr.; brother, King David Dummons; and grandchild, Hannah Marie Dummons. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 1pm until the time of funeral services at 2pm, officiated by Pastor Robert Mayes. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
