Marilynn “Lynn” Exon Hatcher peacefully passed away with a smile on her face Friday, July 26, 2024, three weeks shy of her 101st birthday. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but lived the majority of her life in Baton Rouge, where she and her beloved husband, Frank raised their two sons. In addition to being a homemaker, Lynn had a long career as a real estate agent and broker. She was a gifted pianist with a great love of classical music. As such she was a proud member of the Baton Rouge Symphony League. Lynn greatly enjoyed being a member of Passe’ Bon Temps and Les Liseuses Book Club. She was instrumental in the formation of the St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy. Before her health declined, Lynn could be found playing bridge numerous times weekly and was very close to achieving Life Master status. In fact, she thought the Baton Rouge Bridge Center should never close. She joined the City Club because she enjoyed playing with the group there. She and Frank were longtime members of Baton Rouge Country Club, where they enjoyed golfing with friends and attending parties. They loved to travel and even after his death she continued take interesting trips. As important as bridge was, her Catholic Faith was paramount to her existence. Lynn converted in 1944 before her marriage to Frank. They were active members of St. Aloysius and later Our Lady of Mercy, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. Lynn was very proud of being in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. She is survived by her “boys”: Dr. Frank (Carolyn) Hatcher and Steve (Regina) Hatcher. Lynn was Mimi to her five grandchildren and two bonus ones: Jennifer Mackintosh, Kimberly (Andrew) Mansour, Stephanie Hatcher, Austin (Anne) Hatcher, Kaitlin (Jet) Troth, Emily (Chris) Romano, Dixon (Bess) McMakin. She was blessed with great-grandchildren: Sarah (James) Hand, Mark (Katie) Mackintosh, John Paul Mackintosh, Katie Mackintosh, and Lauren Mackintosh; Abigail Mansour and Isaac Mansour; Lillianne Hatcher and Warren Hatcher; and Landon Romano, Easton Romano, and Ainsley Romano. Her five great-great-grandchildren are Maggie, Peter, Emily, and Matthew Hand; and Veronica Mackintosh. She is also survived by her younger brother Jim Exon. Lynn was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Frank, her parents Earnest Edward and Agnes Exon, grandson Christopher Hatcher, and grandson-in-law Rob Mackintosh. Funeral services will be Friday, August 9, 2024 at St. Aloysius Catholic church with Father Greg Daigle officiating. Visitation starts at 11am with the Mass of Christian Burial at Noon. A celebration of her life will follow immediately at Baton Rouge Country Club. Interment will be private at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Hatcher, Mark Mackintosh, John Paul Mackintosh, Dixon McMakin, Chris Romano, and Jet Troth.
