Margarett Anderson Mullins passed peacefully from this world on Easter Sunday evening, March 23, 2008. She was born Dec. 5, 1923, to Fred and Leona Anderson, who were of St. Helena Parish. A graduate of Pine Grove High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, her school days were marked by excellence as a basketball player, an interest that continued throughout her life. She married William Reginald "Rags" Mullins Jr. on Feb. 25, 1946, and enjoyed a strong and loving marriage for 54 years until his death in 2000. Margarett is survived by two children, Martha and husband Joseph E. Juban, and William Reginald "Regi" Mullins III and wife Ann Stinson Mullins; five grandchildren, Eric Anderson Juban, Joseph Brian Juban and wife Angie Pitts Juban, William Grey Mullins and wife Lindsay Bratton Mullins, Matthew Lee Mullins and wife Currie Bohn Mullins, and Sara Margarett Mullins; and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Grace Juban and Malcolm Alexander Juban. Margarett was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving for many years as a sixth-grade Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School and Nursery worker and as a volunteer and board member at the Downtown Christian Outreach Center. She was a member of the DOW-BK Sunday School Class. The family and friends Margarett leaves behind will remember a woman of great strength and independence, frank wisdom and devoted service. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Tuesday, March 25, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Wednesday, March 26, from 11 a.m. until a memorial service at 1 p.m., conducted by Dr. Burn Page of First Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Joseph Juban, Eric Juban, Brian Juban, Grey Mullins, Matt Mullins and Tom McAdams; and honorary pallbearers are Clifford Loudon and John D. Mullins. The family gratefully acknowledges the devoted care given by Dr. Harold Brandt, Dr. Mark Posner, Louise Jenkins, Tommie Lee Jett and Rosa Douglas.
