
Marie Reed, 90, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at St. Clare Manor, Baton Rouge. She was born Sept. 28, 1919, at Nellie Plantation, Plattenville, the daughter of the late John Laland Marks and Marie Etie Marks, and granddaughter of the late John and Ida Marks, who were of Napoleonville. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy, Shreveport, and attended Centenary College. She married Joseph T. "Rock" Reed on Dec. 11, 1941, and they were married for 65 years until his death in 2007. She retired from the Catholic Life Center and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. Survived by a son, Richard T. Reed and his wife, Kathy; and granddaughter, Stephanie, all of Baton Rouge. Also survived by a daughter, Janet Reed and her husband, John Glenn, of Fredericksburg, Va. She was preceded in death by her brother, Martin Etie Marks. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Clare Manor and Hospice for the care they gave her.
