Marion Jane Payton, born in Mandeville, Jamaica, W.I. passed away on August 28, 2016 at the age of 56. She was the loving daughter of Dudley and the late Barbara Payton, sister of Alison and husband Frank Heilesen, and sister of Christopher and wife Barbara Payton. She loved all her uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and great nieces and nephew. Jane came with her parents to Baton Rouge in 1967 and became a US citizen. She loved swimming, bowling, track and bocce. At the 1991 International Special Olympics in Minneapolis she won 2 gold and 1 silver medals. Jane had Down syndrome and succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. A memorial service will be held at the Highland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 11 AM. We are very grateful to all at the ARC of Baton Rouge, St. John the Baptist Human Services, Sunrise on Siegen, Bridgeway Hospice, The Highland Presbyterian Church and others for the wonderful love and care they gave to Jane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
