OBITUARY

Marjorie G. Clark

31 December, 1937 – 25 October, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Marjorie Jean Grant Clark of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on December 31, 1937, in Brenham, Texas, Marjorie was the second child of Howard Emerson Grant, Sr. and Violet Marjorie Grant. She married the love of her life Neal Crandall Clark. They shared many joyful years together, treasuring the laughter and memories they made while traveling, playing campground hosts, and exploring new destinations.

Marjorie was a dedicated homemaker who took great joy in caring for those she loved. She was an avid gardener and talented seamstress. She delighted in sewing clothes for her children and their dolls, creating costumes for every occasion, and even making curtains for her granddaughter’s classroom. A woman of quiet strength and deep faith, she devoted many years as an active member and volunteer at First Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship and Southeast Ministries in Baton Rouge, LA. She extended her talents through volunteering at the church craft fair, where she poured love and care into every project, bringing joy to everyone who received her handmade treasures. As a proud “lefty,” Marjorie loved sharing her unique perspective with her family, even teaching her daughter how to navigate a right-handed world with confidence and creativity. Above all, she found her greatest happiness in the role she cherished most, being “Mom’C” to her 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Marjorie is lovingly remembered by her sister-In-law, Joyce Grant; her children, Linda Sanders (Scott), Cheryl Allain (Paul), Gary Burns (JoLynn), and Vanessa Schermerhorn (Ken); as well as grandchildren (Chelsea, Corey, Grant, Rebekah, Kade, Bliss, Joel, and Maria); and 13 great grandchildren. All her friends and family, and everyone who loved her, brought joy to her life and held a special place in her heart.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband Neal C. Clark; her parents Howard E. Grant, Sr. and Violet M. Grant; and her brother Howard E. Grant, Jr.

While her laughter and radiant spirit will be forever missed, her family finds peace in knowing that she has been welcomed into God’s Kingdom, leaving behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories. The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff at The Heart of Hospice and Flannery Oaks Guest House. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the First Christian Church Music Fund in memory of Marjorie Clark, 8484 Old Hammond Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
