
A retired Gulf States Utilities Gas Department construction foreman with 38 years of service and a Rabenhorst Funeral Home employee for the past 18 years, he died at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was a native of Hammond and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was 80 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visitation at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Drive, on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by the Rev. Michael J. Schatzle. Entombment will follow in St. George Mausoleum. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wilma Guidry Day; two daughters and a son-in-law, Leslie Day and Madelyn and Mike King, all of Baton Rouge; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Julien and Rita Day, of Gonzales, William Day, of Prairieville, and George and Deb Day, of Baton Rouge; a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. O.W. "Buddy" and Sandy Day, of Tylertown, Miss.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Telvina Vicknair Day; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth Terrio Day. He was a member and usher at St. George Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to any hospice organization of your choice. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
