Mary Joyce Gill Wilson

Mary Joyce Gill Wilson passed away on Sunday May 25, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Albany, LA on October 4, 1937, to the late Lelon and Florence Gill. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Richard “Buddy” Wilson. Devoted mother of Stephanie Sansone (David), Stacie Minor (Bruce), Brian Wilson and Scott Wilson (Kristi). Sister of Lavern Gill and the late Dot Smiley, Sarah Babin and Ricky Gill. Loving grandmother of Trevor Sansone (Morgan), Tyler Sansone (Amy), Mallori Diez, Connor Wilson, Parker Wilson (fiancé Joseph Romero), Luke Miller and Finn Miller. Great grandmother of Sullivan and William Sansone, Mary Margaret Hudson and soon to be Camille Sansone. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary loved flowering, was a member of the Baton Rouge Garden Club, Villa Del Rey Civic Association, a parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and an avid fan of LSU. Her greatest enjoyment came from cooking dinner every Sunday for her children and grandchildren. She volunteered for many hours at her children’s school and she and her husband were tremendous supporters of Redemptorist High School. She continued giving her time at her grandchildren’s respective schools for many years.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Sansone, Bruce Minor, Luke and Finn Miller along with Pallbearers; Trevor Sansone, Tyler Sansone, Connor Wilson, Joseph Romero, Ronnie George and Calvin Babin. The Family would like to thank the staff at The Lodge at Lane and Doctor Michael Conners, III (Trey).

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802 on Thursday, May 29th, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
