
A native of Baton Rouge, she was a retired Medical Technologist and a graduate of LSU, and long-time member of Parkview Baptist Church. She died at 10pm, January 13, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospice, The Carpenter House, at the age of 83. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, Wednesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:30am until the religious service in the funeral home chapel at 10:00am, conducted by the Rev. Ron Tyndall. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Robert A. Meade, parents Hugh Davis and Mamie Dunn Pruyn, and a brother Gordon Pruyn of Baton Rouge. She is survived by a daughter, Leah Katherine Meade, of Baton Rouge, a son and daughter-in-law, James "Jim" Arthur and Stephanie Mathews Meade, of Prairieville, LA, two brothers, Thaddeus "Pat" D. Pruyn and spouse, Juanita, of Pearland, TX, and Robert O. Pruyn of Amarillo, TX, a sister-in-law, Charlton Smith Pruyn, of Baton Rouge, grandchildren Christine Jenkins and spouse William, Shelby Martinez, great-grandchildren Isabella Grace and Peyton James Jenkins and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are: Thaddeus D. Pruyn, Thomas David Pruyn, Leonard Werner, William Jenkins, Roland E. Mathews and Glen Davis. A special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice, The Carpenter House, for their gentle, dignified care during her final journey. Donations to The Carpenter House would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
