
A retired head dietician for the East Baton Rouge Parish school systems' school food service, she died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at her home in Central. She was 90 and a native of Ida. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the funeral home chapel on Monday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Tim Lascote. Entombment in Hillcrest Mausoleum. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Guillotte and husband Preston, of New Iberia; three sons, Lt. Col. (U.S. Navy, ret.) David L. Herring, of Gauthier, Miss., and John M. Herring and wife Martha and Timothy G. Herring and wife Nanette, all of Baton Rouge; a sister, Ruby Lee Herring, of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Henrietta Busby; husband, Lawton L. Herring; stepson, Donald L. Herring; four brothers, Tom Wilson, Jack Busby, George Busby and Ben Busby; and three sisters, Lelia Hale, Gussie Creasey and Lillian Garretson. Pallbearers will be John Herring Jr., Douglas Herring, Ross Dugal, Logan Picou, Jeff Nice and Cliff Morris. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Guillotte, Dustin Duke, Preston Guillotte and Dr. Herschel Dean. Caring for and befriending others were her passions. Her love of God, family, church and friends filled her life. She was an active member for many years of Open Door Baptist Church.
