He was a computer programmer for Audubon Insurance Co., a native of New Orleans and a resident of Baton Rouge. He died at 11:56 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Mike was 63. He was a U.S. Marine Corps sergeant and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School of New Orleans; and an active participant in Bible study and Sunday school at Parkview Baptist Church. He loved music, to bass fish and travel. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, May 27, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes Friday from 11 a.m. until the religious service in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ron Tyndall. Interment with military honors will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis K. Ratliff McKee; father and stepmother, Reaford Eugene "Gene" and Janell McKee; daughter, Leigh-Ann Walker and husband Peter; grandsons, Braden Lee Walker and Cale Matthew Walker; and brothers, Raymond Harold McKee, of Fairfield, Calif., Douglas Paul McKee, of Mesquite, Texas, and Reaford Eugene McKee Jr. and wife Carla, of Bedico; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Miller and her husband, Archie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edythe Fernandez McKee. Pallbearers will be Tommy Meunier, Greg Hall, Mike Lea, Gene Leigh, Johnny Pomares and Byron Henderson. Memorial donations may be made to The Carpenter House or Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
